[ waterbending is the worst. especially in his situation, with actual lightning coming down from the sky as they work. which he should be able to redirect, instead of... three droplets. (yeah he's not good at waterbending yet). the only silver lining here is that katara has firebending now, so.... at least one of them can be protected from the storm. ]

Okay, well... you already know this, but waterbenders deal with the flow of energy -- you let your defense become your offense, and turn your opponent's energy against them. Uncle taught me a way to do that with lightning. You let the energy in your own body flow -- and the lightning will follow.
