[ SO YESTERDAY

SURE WAS A THING.

so after that whole fiasco finally died down, katara just went straight to bed and slept. she doesn't really poke her head from under her covers until the afternoon, and when she does it's for one specific purpose. she didn't really get to talk to inuyasha before he and zuko started crabwalking for her attention. so. ]

... hey. Inuyasha?

I wasn't planning on going in that deep, so I didn't think it would be that bad, but then we were kind of... forced to, after the path disappeared on us.

[ seriously fuck that jungle. ]

But you're right. Even if I didn't intend to explore it as much as we ended up doing, I still should have said something. I'm sorry, Inuyasha.

[The apology just seems to make him flustered. He mutters, Stupid under his breath and looks in the opposite direction, arms crossing over his chest.]

Are you hungry or something? That woman said you need to eat so you don't get sick. If you get sick, you're just going to die.

[ i mean, she might die since it's murder island, but it probably won't have anything to do with getting sick. ]

This isn't about me! [His lips purse. They... don't have... much choice...] Here. Just eat this. [He caught a few fish again. All that is left to drink is coconut milk, so she gets that, too. Except... she is missing an arm. God dammit.

He sighs and sits on the side of her bed with his legs crossed again. And, like... feeds her or whatever with the mishapen wooden spoon.] Does it hurt? Your arm. I got some plants and made some medicine we can put on it.

she would normally fuss more about this, but honestly. whatever. considering she lives with inuyasha he'd probably see how tired she is right now more than anyone else, so there's really no point in fighting about it. ]

The burns bother me more. I don't even... know what to think about the arm. It's weird.

Fine. We can put it on the burns, whatever. [He may just be mad with himself that he didn't think to put it on those first?] Even if they're not demons out there, they act like demons. And demons can do powerful things.

[Hilariously, he's pretty patient with feeding her or handing her a coconut to drink out of... mostly because it's a little embarrassing having to do this since it ruins his reputation.] Demons get stronger in my world when they have pieces of the Jewel that Kagome broke. The complete Jewel gives demons great power.

So maybe those two gave these "demons" some kind of Jewel to make them so powerful. But without our own powers, we can't do anything about it. Did you even kill it?

We did. [ raven and she did most of the work for that, actually, the men were useless. ] But it's like you said... we have no idea if there are more or them, or even other things out there. And that's assuming all of it actually stays in the jungle.

[ like, what's stopping those bugs to decide to have a beach day or something. ]

They have to have something on their side to do all of this... but whatever it is, I don't think the Chiefs are the ones with it. It would be too risky if we ever managed to break into their hut or actually surprised them.

So they can be killed... [He stares in thought for a moment before he realizes he's frozen there with spoon in hand, looking stupid.] Was there anything else out there besides those yellow things?

If they're just monsters, they must be guarding something. We can just kill them all and then go into the jungle for more food.

That's all my group found. I don't know what the others ran into though, so they probably found something different than us.

[ she knows that lucina and yona also came out from the jungle, but lief and his group were... washed ashore??? ]

I think the problem is that we don't know how big the jungle is. And the only way we can figure that out is by exploring it...

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Why's it so bad we explore the jungle, huh? There doesn't need to be monsters involved. They had to summon them here on purpose.

[The grip on the spoon tightens, creaking the already fragile wood, and he loosens up quickly when he realizes.] Pisses me off.

None of you can explore any more; it's too dangerous. That means some of the rest of us have gotta do it.

[ she pats him on the arm. there there. ]

... I suppose. But if you do, make sure you go with someone. There is no way someone will make it out if they go by themselves.

[ the smart thing to do would be to dissuade him from any attempts altogether, but she is currently the last person who can say something like that considering. ]

Yeah, yeah. Fine. [Maybe he'll take Zuko so the guy can get a little beat up. :')] I never said I was even going in to begin with.

I know I'm gonna get off this stinking island if it's the last thing I do. Kagome and the others won't be able to find the rest of the Jewel shards without me. None of them will be able to stop Naraku, that damn, slimy coward.

That's what this whole game reminds me of: something he'd do because he's too scared to fight face to face.

Who's Naraku? I know you've mentioned these Shards before and how important it is for you all to find them, but...

[ nothing else? she never asked since she didn't think their social link was high enough yet to get an actual answer from him. ]

The Jewel of the Four Souls gives power to whoever has it. Good or bad. [He looks down and away.] That's what he's after. But he won't fight me face to face! He keeps sending out lesser demons in disguises!

If Kagome hadn't shattered the Jewel into a thousand pieces, none of this would have happened.

[ oh. that makes a lot of the things he's said so far make more sense in context. inuyasha you sure have a habit of dropping plot points of your canon and then never explaining them ever. ]

I see. So... you and Kagome are collecting the pieces before he can. To stop him from....?

I just told you: becoming a powerful demon! [The ears on his head go flat.] Even shards of the Jewel give power. Anyone who finds the shards can become stronger if they use them.

So Naraku isn't our only problem; we have to get the shards back to begin with.

So he doesn't have any plans? Or is just him having the shards in general bad enough?

[ she was thinking something along the lines of world conquest. ]

Tch. When do demons ever have "plans"?

Him having any of the shards is bad enough. He wants to be the most powerful demon in the world. There's no telling what he'd do after getting it, but I'm not about to let some sleazy piece of trash demon get that far.

Hm. Do you know how many shards you're looking for?

[ actually... how are they even finding them... ]

Yeah right. There's no telling how many pieces Kagome split the Jewel into. They scattered all over.

[A frustrated sigh. He puts the spoon down and crosses his arms under his sleeves.] Supposedly, Kagome is the reincarnation of Kikyo, the woman who was guarding the Jewel. [His voice sounds way softer than he'd like it.] So she can see the shards if they're nearby.

[ she... takes note of that. it's interesting. and weird, really, considering how inuyasha reacted when katara asked him how would kagome react in this situation. and now this. ]

But besides that, Kagome is a regular human, right?

Yeah. She's a human. [He seems suddenly suspicious for some reason???] Why's it matter?

Because you're always going on about how much better demons are.
