And I hadn't expected that. It wasn't a complaint; it's a lot easier to talk to someone who doesn't absolutely believe the good in everyone.

"Programming" is a way to automate functions on a machine. The actual process is a little more complicated than that, but that's the short of it.

Now, when it comes to the Chiefs, what they're capable of doing-- I'm fairly certain that falls into a domain called "artificial intelligence". I'm not an expert, since it was still only theoretical where I'm from, but the kind of cognitive thought and learning they've displayed is far past anything a human being could've programmed into a machine. Does that make sense so far?

I think so. Basically, they're... machines that are smarter than the typical ones.

Hmmm... Close enough. [shrugs] It's a little closer to machines that have been given life, but that implies more emotions than these two have shown so far.
